Agroecology
This program was of great importance, as it sought local solutions to address the high cost of transporting food from the mainland, through the recovery of native species and the acquisition of new knowledge in cultivation techniques.
In this context, Toki NGO worked on combining ancestral techniques with cutting- edge agricultural technologies to increase food production and improve quality in a more efficient way.
The “Toki Organic Farm” had a strong educational focus, welcoming schools and volunteer brigades and offering training programs for the community. Teaching focused on agroecological guidance, crop management, and the quality of local products, along with the creation of a seed bank.
The program was led by Juan Haoa and advised by agroecologist Juan Carlos Cabrera. In addition, the Environmental Education Network supported and promoted its development at different stages. Today, the ancestral gardens created during the program remain in use for educational purposes.
