Who We Are

We are a non-profit foundation from Rapa Nui dedicated to social transformation and the creation of a better future through integral education.

With concrete actions, we work to preserve our culture and recover what has been lost over time, such as umanga, the principle of the rapa nui worldview based on collaboration for the common good. We also strive to generate positive change in society and address the challenges of isolation and the lack of opportunities on the island.

Every two weeks, a language disappears somewhere in the world. According to UNESCO, the loss of a language means losing centuries of cultural heritage, and particularly, the irreplaceable legacy of traditions and ancestral knowledge. Rapa Nui is fortunate to still preserve its language, but it remains at risk. Today, many of its expressions are no longer actively used. At Toki, we work to protect and revitalize this heritage for present and future generations.

Our mission is to strengthen our community through education, culture, environmental care, and social support, guided by actions aligned with our foundational purpose.

How Do We Protect Our Community and Culture?

Art and Music:

Music and Arts Education

We accompany children and young people in learning artistic disciplines, helping them channel their talent and interest into a solid educational foundation. We aim to develop each student’s full potential, giving them the opportunity to use their artistic training as the basis for a professional career or as a meaningful tool for life.

Art and Music:

Heritage Preservation

We promote the education of the rapa nui worldview and the care of our culture in all its forms, from the preservation of material and tangible heritage to the protection of our language, which is currently at risk of extinction — a fundamental element for keeping the culture alive.

Sustainability

Environmental Care

We promote environmental education and awareness at a local and global level. We encourage sustainable practices and strengthen the collective responsibility to care for the island and its ocean.

Sustainability

Social Engagement

We create development and training opportunities for people of all ages, ethnic backgrounds, and genders on Rapa Nui. We work to reduce geographic isolation and social inequality, offering new tools that generate positive impact in our community.

MISSION

To actively share the rapa nui worldview while promoting sustainable social, cultural, environmental, and economic development for the community.

VISION

To become a leading cultural and educational institution that integrates ancestral wisdom with new knowledge to respond to the needs of the rapa nui people, fostering sustainable development, cultural preservation, and community empowerment within a framework of respect and harmony.
